Frequently Asked Questions

Ask a Question
  • What are the protected poles made of?
    + Show Answer

Each rung is made from solid aluminum, and covered with a neoprene foam.

  • Dimensions lengthwise of a 5 board rack?

    + Show Answer

The dowels are spaced 9" on center so the total lengths for the 5-board rack would be 37 inches.

Below is the total-sizing for each of the rack's backplate:

    • 2 board - 10"
    • 3 board - 19"
    • 4 board - 28"
    • 5 board - 37"
    • 6 board - 46"

  • This rack comes as a pair correct? Not stated anywhere in the documentation.

    + Show Answer

Yes, that's correct this rack comes as a set.

  • Will this rack support the weight of stand up paddle board? Or what is the weight capacity of each pair of bars?

    + Show Answer

This black metal surf rack is meant for just holding surfboards. As the arms are not long enough to support the typical size of a SUP board, so we don't recommend using it for this application.

We have a similarly styled rack but designed for larger & heavier Longboards & SUP Stand Up Paddleboards.  For more info check out this rack here:  SUP Wall Rack | Black Metal

The SUP version has longer arms or dowels meant to hold the much larger boards.

  • Hi, Would it be possible to use the rack vertically? And do you ship to Switzerland? How much would be the additional shipping costs? We would take one for 2 Boards, because if we can use them vertically we'll get 2x2 and then we can use it for 4 boards, right? Thank you. Best, Alexandra

    + Show Answer

Yes you can use this rack vertically. Correct, if you get a 2 board rack, and use it for vertical storage you effectively double your storage space, for 4 boards.

Yes we can ship to Switzerland.  Please email shipping address to info@epicsurfracks.com

  • the picture on your website ad shows a pair of 4 board racks for $77.00 is that the correct price?

    + Show Answer

The picture shows 4.  However, you select the number of boards you want to store with the pull-down menu to the right of the picture.   The price is then adjusted accordingly.

  • On the black metal wall racks are dowels made of aluminum ?

    + Show Answer

Yes, each dowel is made of solid aluminum.

  • Hi what lenght are the dowels please?

    + Show Answer

The length of each dowel is 18"

  • Is this sturdy enough for outdoor use?

    + Show Answer

Yes it is.  The material is aluminum, so it holds up well to the elements (even salt environments), without fear of rusting.

The exposed aluminum also has a black powdercoat, for added protection.

  • What is the total weight limit for a 3 board rack?

    + Show Answer

Each Rung can hold 10 lbs.   So total weight you can hold on a 3 board rack is 60 lbs.

  • Are your prices in US$ or AUD$

    + Show Answer

All of our prices are in US $ Dollars.

  • What are the height dimensions on the black wall mounted 4 rack vs. 3 rack? Many Thanks

    + Show Answer

The dowels on these racks are spaced 9" on center so the total heigh for the 4 board version is 36", and the 3 board is 27".

  • Are the bars easy to remove? I haven’t seen any pictures of the bars removed from the wall plate. Do you need to remove the wall plate in order to remove the bar?
    + Show Answer

The bars are actually easy to remove as they are each held on by a machine screw. However, unfortunately the plates need to be off the wall in order to remove the bars.

These seem well-made but I'm not sure about the strength/quality. One longboard is putting a noticeable amount of bend in the bars. Think they will hold but I wonder about them continuing to bend over time. Would rather pay more for heavier duty rack that I am confident will last forever.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback here, and I apologize for any concern that the product may have brought.

Just to clarify, these racks are made using powder-coated steel back plates, along with hardened stainless steel hardware, both of which are very strong. The dowels (bars) are made from a solid aluminum tubes, which is also extremely strong, and durable.

The solid aluminum tubes, are actually more resistent to the elements than that of treated steal. That said, aluminum does have a higher amount of flexibility than that of steel, so there may be a bit of 'flex' when mounting heavier boards. However, being a solid tube (not hollow in the center) these are not prone to breaking or bending, over time.

These are the same solid aluminum tubes we use in the Stand Up Paddle board version of this rack and haven't heard of any issues with this rack or the SUP version from our customers, and we've been selling both for years.
Any flex experienced holding surfboards now are not likely to flex further with time, that is unless a much heavier item than a surfboard is used, or in the odd case someone decided to hang from the bars. Hopefully this helps clarify any conern.

If still have any concern or questions please don't hesistate to reach out to us directly at info@epicsurfracks.com. We'll be glad to get you taken care.

Easy to install. Economical Just what I needed. Lightning fast shipping

I got tired of all the kids surfboards laying around my backyard and got proactive. I am an unskilled 65 year lady and got busy with the drill, a tool I am unfamiliar with. I installed the rack on a 2 X 4 board. I installed the board on the gate with some brackets from Amazon and Voila. I purchased one of those old tire mats for the boards and a strong “hammock hanging hinge” to a secure chain on either side. I can now store 8-9 boards vertically. If I can do it anyone can.

Thank you for providing your story here!! It's uplifting and inspiring. Happy to hear it all worked out!

Just what the doctor ordered

The rack looks great and works well. One of the bars wasn’t drilled properly, so I was unable to screw into the supporting nut. I contacted epic and they immediately shipped a replacement. Great customer service and I’m thankful.
