Frequently Asked Questions

Ask a Question
  • I’m looking for a SUP vertical rack for outside on the side of my house for one SUP. Will the acrylic vertical mount of yours work for that?

    + Show Answer

We don't have an acrylic wall rack that holds the SUP vertically.  However, we do have a version that holds SUP boards horizontally (or flat) with our Clear Surfboard or SUP Wall Rack | Flat | Trophy style.

The version of this rack can be seen HERE.

  • I just inherited a 9ft surfboard that I would like to display horizontally in our entryway. I would like it fairly close to the ceiling… So I am not sure if I should get the standard acrylic hanging racks or the angled down hanging racks. Can you please advise on the difference? Additionally, if we decide to hang it vertically, would those racks also need to be installed at the studs? I have included a photo of the board for reference.
    + Show Answer

If you’re planning to mount the board close to the ceiling, I’d actually recommend the angled-down version. With the traditional flat (parallel-to-the-wall) rack, you’ll generally need enough clearance above the rack to maneuver the board in and out after installation—essentially requiring at least the width of the board to clear the rack.

The angled-down version allows for much tighter tolerances and makes it easier to install and remove the board when mounting close to the ceiling.

As for vertical storage (or the other acrylic-based racks), we generally recommend mounting into studs whenever safely possible. While the board itself isn’t particularly heavy, studs provide the most secure installation and are always preferred over drywall anchors alone.

  • I have a 6' surfboard without fins that I want to hang from a wall above a staircase. What mount would work best? The board weighs about 30lbs.
    + Show Answer

For your 6' surfboard (around 30 lbs) that you'd like to hang above your staircase, I'd recommend our Clear Acrylic Vertical Wall Rack for Shortboards:

👉 Clear Acrylic Vertical Wall Rack for Shortboards

This rack is designed to securely hold boards up to 50 lbs, so it will comfortably support your 30 lb board. The clear acrylic gives a clean, floating display look, while keeping the focus on your board. All hardware is included, and as long as it's properly mounted into studs or with strong wall anchors, it will be a safe and stylish option for your space.

Let me know if you'd like any tips on mounting or positioning above your staircase—We're happy to help!

  • If my long board doesn’t have fins will the vertical rack still work? Says fins need to be in it!
    + Show Answer

You don't need the fin installed for that rack.  It just comes off the wall a bit more than the shortboard version to accommodate a larger fin.

Some folks mounting boards without fins want more of a flush against the wall look so they end up going with the shortboard version of the rack to mount their (usually smaller) longboards, as seen in this photo.

  • I want to mount a fish surfboard, no fins flush to the wall. Which rack should I go with?
    + Show Answer

If you want to mount a fish shape with no fins flush to the wall you actually have two options:

    Vertically Mounted:
This rack comes with 3-pieces (sides arm and base) and all necessary mounting hardware.

    Horizontally Mounted:
This rack comes with 2-pieces and all necessary mounting hardware.

  • I have an older short board with 4 skegs. Would the bottom part of the rack be wide enough ?
    + Show Answer

If planning on mounting the board with the skegs / fins attached, and you plan for them to face the wall (deck-side out) I would recommend getting the longboard version of this rack. The longboard version provides enough space off the wall to accommodate the fins.

If the fins are not attached  and/or you want a flush look of the board against the wall then the shortboard version is your best bet.

The bases of both styles of the rack have enough width to support most boards, if mounted correctly.

Perfect for long board and twin fin fish!

Love these racks. We needed to hang fins toward the wall to avoid kids/dogs hitting them and the racks worked perfectly for both our twin fin fish and long board. Would recommend.

Originally had my surfboard mounted horizontally on the wall. New space required a different orientation so I ordered the vertical mount. Great product. Perfect solution
